Control Resonant is almost here, with Remedy Entertainment preparing to launch its supernatural action sequel on September 24 for PlayStation 5.
The new game expands the Control formula with a close-range combat system centered around Dylan's shapeshifting weapon, the Aberrant. Remedy says players will need to read enemy attacks, manage status effects and carefully time dodges during combat.
Assist Mode gets a major upgrade
One of the most interesting additions is an expanded Assist Mode. Instead of relying only on traditional difficulty settings, players can adjust individual elements of the experience to create a challenge that better fits their preferences.
The system can reduce difficulty when players need extra help, but it can also make the game harder. Players can increase enemy aggression, reduce the Perfect Dodge Window and raise incoming damage for a more demanding experience.
Accessibility without locking rewards
Remedy has also confirmed that trophies and achievements are not locked behind Assist Mode. That means players can customize the experience without having to worry about losing access to completion rewards.
This approach gives Control Resonant a useful middle ground between a fixed difficulty setting and a completely unrestricted experience. Someone struggling with one mechanic can adjust that element without necessarily making every part of the game easier.
What to expect at launch
Control Resonant arrives in a busy September release window, but its combination of paranormal storytelling, close-range combat and customizable difficulty gives it a distinct identity.
Players interested in the sequel won't have to wait much longer. The game launches September 24, with Remedy positioning the new Assist Mode as a way to let players experience the action on their own terms.
